“You win, happy?” with Roman?
"You got what you wanted."
Roman glared at Janus, trying to contain the shaking in his hands or the tears burning at the back of his throat. The snake just looked back at him, something akin to pity in his eyes. He cocked his head, confused.
"You were right. I am evil." Roman could barely get the words out, the words wrapping around his throat and choking him now that they were in the air. They were out, they were true, and Roman can't breathe.
Janus's eyes widened, "Roman-"
"No, no! You were right! You turned me into the bad guy. And now- now-" Roman took a shuddering breath, the heartbreak and anger and shame in his chest like a lance. He looked down at his outfit, white and red and gold, and saw nothing but a costume. He's not a prince, and never has been.
With a snap of his fingers, the white of his suit was now black, and his red sash was more of a burgundy color. His hands were covered in white gloves and his logo had flipped upside down on both of his arms.
Roman heard a gasp over the sound of his own rushing blood. The new suit was...
Well, it made him look the part.
Barely managing not to cry, he looked back up at Janus, who's eyes were wide and who's hand was stretched out like he was reaching for Roman.
Roman's face broke out into a cruel grin, hiding suffering and guilt and loss behind it.
"You win, happy?"

Always The Hero
YEAH I DID IT-
Warnings: cursing, blood, cuts, yelling, unsymp!Roman, mental breakdown, really Roman was driven to being ‘unsympathetic’ but yeah- angst, no happy ending.
-------------
Roman paces his room, hands gripping his hair tight as he tries his best to calm his breathing down. He didn’t understand what he did so wrong, sure he made fun of Janus’ name but he wasn’t trying to be cruel! Or was he? Roman wasn’t sure, not with everything in his mind clashing together. Not when right and wrong were fighting against one another. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair that he keeps being brushed aside, it wasn’t fair when he was called stupid for taking the blame of Thomas not feeling good enough, thinking that his own insecurities were affecting Thomas.  It wasn’t fair that Patton was allowed to agree with Janus when only a couple of weeks ago Roman was deemed unnoble for agreeing with the snake!
Tears blur his vision, Roman stops his pacing, and for once in his life, he lets out a scream that he’s been dying to let out. It wasn’t a scream like Remus’ no, he didn’t want attention, he just wanted all the icky feelings in his chest to go away for once. So, Roman screams and screams until he can’t anymore. Tears streaming down his face as he takes in shuddering breaths.
A choked sob leaves Roman’s trembling lips as he falls to the floor on his knees, ignoring the dull pain that is left behind.
“W-Why can’t I do anything right?”
When Janus sinks into the commons room, he wasn’t expecting to see everyone there waiting for him. The smile he had dropped as he raises an eyebrow in question.
“What? What’s wrong?”
Everyone shares a look, they all turn back to him. Patton opens his mouth to say something only to be interrupted by a crash from upstairs. Everyone including Janus flinches at the sound, a heartwrenching scream coming afterward.
“We… W-Well, I was wondering if you could help me talk to him? He’s not… Handling everything well.” Patton says.
Janus flinches again when something else breaks upstairs, he breathes a sigh through his nose.
“I suppose, it will give the three of us a chance to talk, properly might I add.”
Patton flashes him a thankful smile before hesitantly making his way up the stairs, if Janus were, to be honest (ha!) he couldn’t really blame Patton for being hesitant. Seeing the one bubbly princely like side this angry was unsettling.
Janus only hoped that they weren’t too late.
Roman stares down at the glass shards, his left hand stung from punching the mirror. ‘Another stupid thing, good job you’re really proving everyone’s point.’ Roman closes his eyes tight and balls his hand into a fist, hissing at the pain the glass left in the cuts cause.
Roman flinches when someone knocks on his door, he stays silent hoping that whoever it is would just go away, but that didn’t work. Two pairs of knocking came after the first, the knocking continued, almost falling into rhythm with the throbbing in Roman’s hand. With an annoyed huff, Roman marches over to his door and jerks it open. He narrows his eyes when he sees Patton and Janus on the other side.
“What do you two want? Here to call me stupid some more?”
He watched as the two of them flinched, a part of him wanted to feel bad, screaming at him that he needs to feel bad, but he doesn’t. Roman was tired of feeling bad.
“We… We wanted to make sure you were alright. Roman, kiddo can we talk? Just three of us?” Patton asks.
Roman stares at the two of them before bursting out into laughter, he places his injured hand over his face, his laughter taking on a bit of a demented tone.
‘Look at you, proving that slimy snake right. You really are the evil twin, huh?’
“Dear God, Roman your hand! Let me take a look at that, I know a bit about first aid because of taking care of Remus for so long.”
Roman goes tense, staring at the gloved hand that was reaching out for his wrist. The princely side jerks back.
“Don’t fucking touch me, you snake! And good for you!! Would you like a medal for knowing basic first aid? It doesn’t take a genius to know it since padre here knows it as well! And newsflash, Janus, I’m not my trash can of a brother, so I don’t need you taking care of me.”
Roman couldn’t help the satisfied smirk that came to his face when he saw the two of them flinch back, he also couldn’t help the part that aching to apologize.
“Roman… Kiddo lets all just calm down. It was a stressful day for all of us. Janus and I just… Want to talk to you, get everything settled, and worked out, okay?”
Roman stares at Patton, surely the fatherly side couldn’t be serious.
“S-Stressful? That’s putting it mildly don’t you think, Morality. But okay! You two want to talk! Let’s talk.”
Both Patton and Janus let out a startled squeak as Roman drags them both into his room, slamming the door behind him as he does. The moral and deceitful sides take in the state of Roman’s room, shredded stories and future video ideas littered the floor along with broken glass, some of the glass mixed in with glass from the fancy colognes Roman sometimes wore.
“Yes, yes, yes let’s talk! Let’s talk about how I was called stupid for thinking my own personal insecurities were keeping Thomas from being the perfect moral being that Morality wanted him to be!”
Patton flinches and looks down.
“L-let’s talk about how I was manipulated by you, Deceit, oh I’m sorry, JANUS, multiple times for the p-past YEAR. But when I finally decide to see through your tricks I’M THE BAD GUY!”
Janus avoids looking directly at Roman, acting as if he was rolling his eyes at the prince’s theatrics.
“Oh, no I know!! I know what we should talk about, let’s talk about how before this there were points I brought up were finally being looked at AFTER THEY WEREN’T NEEDED! Or Or how about when I was berated and called un-noble for suggesting lying or even remotely agreeing with Janus here!”
“Roman, just… calm down kiddo, it’s going to be okay.”
“Oh, because you know what’s right, right? Because you’re right about it being okay?”
“Roman, you’re being irrational. Now, let’s take some breaths and calm down.”
Roman tenses and stares at the two sides in front of him, “I-Irrational? I’m being irrational?”
“You are! Because you’re not listening, we are willing to talk, to work things out if you would just calm down and speak to us in a calm matter!”
Roman isn’t sure what took over him, but all he knew was that he had his sword pointed at Janus’ neck. Brown eyes staring with only pure hatred at the smaller side.
“You’re acting like I didn’t do that before. I spoke in a calm manner during the video, I was disregarded and called stupid. I’ve done that multiple times before, was pushed aside, being ignored, and for what?”
Roman glances at Patton before looking back to Janus.
“To appease a moral side who had no idea what the fuck he was doing, trying to stay on his good side, b-because him being disappointed in you for wanting something that would have been an amazing opportunity was too hard to bear.”
Roman lets out a bitter laugh, lowering his sword slightly as he does.
“I-I made the decision for you, Patton, I did it to make you happy, b-but only to find out that you have no idea what the hell you’re doing...and for you to agree with Deceit a-after…”
Roman looks up at Patton, his brown eyes wide as he sniffles.
“H-He’s the villain, I-I’m the hero… O-Or am I? Thomas was lying, D-Deceit proved it, he proved it. B-But he’s the villain you said so! Y-You and Virgil said so!”
Patton and Janus watch as Roman begins to mumble to himself, the two of them watch him with concern.
“Roman… When I nodded I-I was trying to tell you what he said was true… I don’t always lie.”
“BULLSHIT! Y-You- You’re deceit you’re the villain you lie, they said so, MORALITY SAID SO!”
“A-And I was wrong! R-Roman kiddo, I was wrong.” Patton interrupts, moving to stand in front of Janus afraid that Roman would try to attack him.
Roman blinks, more tears streaming down his face. Patton so badly wanted to wipe them away.
“Then, you’re a villain just like him. A villain I have to defeat, a villain I have to defeat to show Thomas that I am the hero, his hero.”
Patton tenses and shakes his head, more tears stream down Roman’s face as he tightens his grip on his sword.
“I’ll finally be doing something right.”
Right, when Roman swings his sword Patton reaches behind him and holds onto Janus’ sleeve sinking them both out and into the common room. The two of them land on the couch, the others staring at them with wide eyes. In a flurry of panic Patton waves his hand, causing the mindscape to shift almost knocking the others off of their feet.
“Patton what did you do?” Virgil asks.
“I-I don’t know…”
When Roman jerks his door open he’s met with darkness, the princely side lets out an angry scream, the sound echoing back to him.
‘Your Remus is showing.’
“No, no there’s a difference… Remus was born a villain, I was made into one… but it’s okay, I’ll be the hero again…”
Roman chuckles, the soft chuckling turns into a loud cackle.
“I-I’ll be Thomas’ hero again! Even if it takes being the villain for a bit, I’ll be the hero again…”
‘I’ll always be the hero...’

Forbidden love?
Pairing: Moceit, hinting at dukxiety.
Spoilers!!! This contains spoilers of the newest video.
Triggers: Virgil being mean(but not unsymp just mean at first but he is nice in the end just hurt) as far as I think nothing else. If I missed something you can always tell me!
Characters: Patton, Deceit and Virgil. Remus mentioned.
Patton can’t help but chuckle at Janus look. Okay maybe a tea party wasn’t the most normal date, but he thought it would be fun. “A tea party pat? Okay I should have seen this coming. You have been trying to get me to join one for awhile now.” Janus shakes his head with a smile. He couldn’t tell Pat that he couldn’t come to those parties because of Virgil being there. “If you don’t want to we can do something else really I don’t mind.” Patton says softly giving Janus a soft smile. “No no Pat I don’t mind love. Really every moment spend with you is fun all where only to watch paint dry.” Janus says pulling Patton close to him. “You are a dork Jee.” Patton says with a chuckle. Janus gives a big deep laugh. “Well my darling little frog I’m your dork.” kissing pat softly. When he pulls away Patton pulls him back in. Janus Smiles in the kiss. Patton pulls away a little bit to say. “Yes you are mine dork teddy bear.” They exchange soft kisses with smiles.
“Love you Pat.” Janus says softly giving him a soft smile. “Love you too Janus.” They look at each other softly just taking the other in. That is until Janus notice Virgil coming down the stairs. Virgil hadn’t noticed them yet as he was on his phone headphones on. Janus pulls away from Patton putting a bit distant between them. Looking down at his hands. Patton tries to touch him on his shoulder only for him to pull away from the touch. “Jee what’s wrong teddy bear.” Janus flinches but doesn’t look back up or answers Patton at all. Patton looks up to the stairs when he hears somebody stepping on the squeaky plank. When he sees Virgil, Virgil was already looking at them noticing that Janus let pulling away from Patton's touch. Virgil hissss at Janus and glaring at him.
Even though Patton and Janus have been dating for a few weeks now, Virgil had done nothing but hiss at Janus and complain to Patton when Janus would join them with Remus for dinner. He also tries telling Patton that Janus isn’t good for him, but Patton just tunes him out at this point as it’s the same speech every time. Janus had even told him, after a breakdown in Patton's room and a bit of isolation in his own room, that Virgil had told him to break up with Patton because his evil plan wouldn’t work. You can see that Pat isn’t quite happy with Virgil. “What you doing here Evil snake.” Virgil snaps. Janus flinches tears peiling his eyes. “Enough Virgil!” Patton says anger filling his voice. Virgil blinks mouth slightly open, did Patton just snap at him. “I’m done with you calling my boyfriend evil.” Virgil looks at Patton. “Because he is Patton. He is evil an asshole. He is no good.” Virgil snaps. “No Virgil. He is amazing and kind and sweet. Look at him he is scared of you. He has been nothing but amazing to me and you scare him away from me. He is scared to show affection when you are in the room, because he is afraid you will treat him again..” Patton says tears in his eyes both from frustration and sadness. “Why are you being so mean to him. Why do treat him to break up with me!” He yells the tears now freely rolling down his cheeks. Janus looks up and quickly pulls Patton in to a hug, telling him it’s going to be alright and shooting him.
Virgil watch this play out and feels guilty he didn’t want to make Patton cry. He just wants to protect him. “Patton I'm sorry I” Virgil starts, but Patton cut him of. “I’m not the one you should say sorry too Virgil.” Patton pointly looks at Janus. “Mhph fine, Janus I’m sorry for treating you. “ Patton glares. “Virgil you don’t mean it do you?” “No Pat I don’t because he is a slime snake and he will just end up hurting you.” Patton wants to protest but Janus puts a hand on his arm shaking his head. “Virgil I.. I know that what I did too you wasn’t okay. I didn’t treat you right and I hurted you, but I have changed and I realized that I hurted you. I’m not like that anymore.” Virgil glares. “Why did you hurt me in the first place.” Janus sighs this conversation was long overdue but he hadn’t had the courage to stap to Virgil before. “Because I was hurt too Virgil. You pulled away from us. You would tell us you couldn’t come to movie nights only for me to find out you were upstairs with the others. Virgil you where my best friend. We were brothers and you pulled away from us. I was scared and hurt.” Virgil glares softened just a little bit. “Then why yell at me. Dee instead of talking to me.” Janus sighs blindly reaching for Patton's hand. “Because Virgil I’m the gatekeeper. I know when people cross over. I knew your room was moving before it even did that night. I was so hurt and scared and I took I took it out on you. Instead of talking to you and I’m sorry I should have talked with you explain how I felt and why I felt like that. But all I did was proof you that I was no good. I’m so so sorry Virg.” Virgil's glare softens. “I’m sorry too I should have talked to you both. Instead of pulling away and just leaving. I also should have let you talk before when you tried to talk about that.” Janus stands up and holds his arms out for a hug. “Only if it’s truly okay. Can I give you a hug Virg?” Virgil nods his head. They hug for a bit. Both crying silently.
When they pull away Virgil looks at Patton. “Dad I'm sorry I should have talked with you, instead of accusing Janus. I was just trying to look out for you, but I now understand I was hurting you. I’m really sorry to both of you.” Patton gives Virgil a soft smile. “Thank you kiddo and I’m sorry for yelling at you.” Virgil pulls Patton in a quick hug, by pulling him of the couch. He also pulls Janus in to the hug. The three of them stay like that for a bit just enjoying the hug. After a bit Virgil pulls away. Blushing a little bit. “I will let you both to enjoy your uhm time together.” Patton smiles softly at  Virgil. “Thank you Virgil. How about later we bake some cookies together?” Virgil nods. “Sounds good dad.” Virgil gives a half smile at the both of them. Walking to the kitchen to get a snack.
Patton turns around and gives Janus a quick kiss. “Love you Jan.” Janus smiles up at Pat a little. “Love you too Pat.” He gives Patton a quick kiss in return. They go back to their talk and the cuddling. Enjoying the little snacks that Patton had made for by their tea. Janus no longer afraid to show his affection towards Patton gives him a few chocolate covered kisses.
In the end Virgil and Janus, started to become friends again and after a good talk with Remus the three of them are becoming closer and closer. And Patton, well Patton encourages them from the sidelines, but Janus always makes sure to spend as much time as possible with his boyfriend and Virgil and Remus completely understand. And if the two of them start to realize their feelings for each other. Well that would be a different story.

The Box
tw: Unsympathetic Logan,  he’s pretty mean in this but I don’t know any specific tags to put on it so ask to tag, Logan's the only unsymp character
@unsympathetic-october-2020
In Thomas's room there was a box. It was full of old toys that Thomas played with, older memories from his childhood. Patton called it 'The happy box' because it was full of things that made Thomas and himself happy.
And Logan hated it.
Not because it made them happy, happiness was fine for Thomas. He guessed. But because it served no purpose and added clutter to Thomas's room, but Patton couldn't see that. He couldn't see how useless hoarding was going to be detrimental to Thomas in a long run. If he had a date over they would not only see the clutter of the box, but also how stupidly childish and sentimental Thomas was.
Of course Patton would be upset for a while, he attached so many emotions to these objects, it would be impossible to convince him to give them up. So he waited until it was late at night, when the only other person who'd be awake was Virgil.
"We've checked the closet and under the bed. We've confirmed that the strange shape on the chair is not an apearition and in fact never is. It's always Thomas's dirty laundry and never once has a creature or person stolen us away in the middle of the night. Thomas has a long day ahead of him Virgil and he needs his rest."
With the Anxious side out of his way he finally had a chance to talk to Thomas one-on-one without fear of distraction.
"That chest brings far much more trouble than it does good. Remember when you banged your toe on it last week? It's clutter."
Thomas rubbed his eyes and sat up, "Logan, I get that you don't get it but... The stuff in there is important to me. That chest has everything from my childhood-"
"A childhood that has been long over Thomas," Logan straightened his tie, "it's ridiculous to be so attached to these things at your age."
Thomas sighed and layed back on his pillow, "Can't we talk about this in the morning Lo?"
Logan shook his head, that wouldn't do at all. Patton would shut down the entire conversation with his talk about feelings and ignore the facts of the matter. ANd the facts of the matter were, "You need to get rid of that thing as soon as possible. It's weighing you down and stopping you from being a full adult." He let his eyes change and gain a dark blue glow, connecting Thomas completely to himself and his will. He held Thomas's hands, "It's time to let go."
Logan wasn't a fan of bending Thomas to his will but sometimes it was necessary to help him see the right path to go down. Yes Patton wailed and cried when he found Thomas's treasures gone and Roman yelled at him for throwing away the first drawing he'd ever created and Virgil seemed more anxious now that there weren't any stuffed animals for him to hold when the world felt too large and scary. But those feelings would pass and eventually they'd see what a smart, rational decision this was and apologize to him for overreacting.
He sat in his room and waited, but they never came.
So he went to them, asking one by one when they'd be ready to apologize.
"I-I'm not sure. You- that was a really rotten thing you did Logan. And I don't think I want to apologize."
"You think I'M the one who needs to apologize?! And I thought I was supposed to be the dillusional side. N-o. Never!"
"You knew we wouldn't go along with you and you tricked us. That's not okay Logan and I think you owe us an apology really."
Logan fummed in his room after he talked to Virgil. He didn't owe them anything! Why couldn't they see he only wanted what-
"What's best for Thomas?"
Logan turned his head to see the half-snake side standing by his closet looking at his ties.
"I know the feeling." He paced around the room. The way he looked at Logan unnerved him slightly.
"What are you doing in here?"
Janus snorted, "I didn't hear your thoughts from down the hall, what do you take me for?" He mlemed, "Some sort of sneaky snake?"
"Get out."
Janus put his hand to his temple, "Oh the tragedy and here I was hoping you'd be willing to listen to my advice."
Logan scoffed but Janus continued, "I've never thought I knew what was best for Thomas and had it blow up in my face. And really the best thing you should do in this kind of situation is sit and pout about it until everyone coddles you into thinking you did nothing wrong. It's definately a good way to maintain healthy relationships insead of apologizing."
Logan glared at the snake, "I don't need your lectures."
Janus rolled his human eye, "Riiiiight."
"I'm nothing like you!" He shouted.
Janus gave a one handed sallute and sunk out of his room.
Logan was alone.
And it was everyone's fault but his.

AO3 LINK
“Right,” Roman had said, or something along those lines, and then he had sunk out. Left. Always too scared to own up to his mistakes, and always too arrogant to even admit he made them.
He had sunk out, ended up in his room, because it was the only place he could ever feel safe anymore, what with the looming threat of his brother, who only came with some fun and terrifyingly complicated emotions he always chose to ignore. He’d never related so much to Logan.
He was in his room, and then he was in his bed, the tears in his eyes and guilt cloying at his chest making every movement feel clipped, like the whole world was moving at three frames per second, jumping around instead of the steady stream of ideas his room usually provided. Yes, his room was safe. But he was so, so alone.
He’d collapsed into his bed, wrenched his hands in the soft duvet until he swore he could feel the fabric tearing, and there he’d stayed for God-knows-how-long. He would guess somewhere around the three hour mark, at least since Patton knocked on his locked (always locked) door and he’d given no answer. Then again, Roman always had a way of losing track of time, helplessly locked in place as the hours flew by.
It had been, in fact, three hours and twenty-eight minutes since Roman had done his sort of... controlled free-fall into the bed, and hadn’t moved. His face had a print on the side, likely from the sequined pillow that he had fallen onto by chance - he hadn’t noticed the uncomfortable prick of plastic shards until he got up, rubbing his face with sore hands. He had, in fact, torn the cover of his duvet, but it was nothing he couldn’t imagine away when he was feeling better, or even take a needle to.
His head still felt stuffed full of cotton, but the feeling of guilt worming its way around inside his chest, up his throat was all too sharp. His first course of action was to apologise.
After that, well.
He would burn that bridge when he got to it.
He made his way over to the attached bathroom, splashing some water on his face with sluggish movements, trying to cool off his burning eyes or clear away the redness on the right side of his face. The water helped, however little, and he felt marginally better, more clear-headed at the very least.
Of course, with his senses now unimpaired, he was able to hear the yelling.
At first, it just sounded like some general voice - vaguely Thomas, but could also just be a stock audio of a man shouting into a microphone. Just under that, though, when Roman blinked tightly and focused a little more, was a faint gravel, oh-so-familiar, one that matched neatly with a grinning face and easy banter - Virgil. Virgil was yelling.
Roman dried his face roughly, irritating his skin more, and zoned out completely as he waited in front of the mirror for the red blotches to fade. Virgil’s voice faded in and out, sometimes stopping entirely. Roman couldn’t tell if someone else was interrupting him or if he was just that out of it.
Finally, after what felt like an hour of choppy-but-definitely-not-pleased dialogue and the sound of waves and misplaced bits of the conversation from earlier washing over his head, myriad colours and shapes dancing across his vision, Roman glanced back up at the mirror.
He looked normal - or, well, the normal from the past few months. Before that, there might’ve been a little more colour in his cheeks, or light in his eyes. He smiled, just to test it, and found his smile both reassuring and wholeheartedly wretched. Pretty, yes, enough to fool anyone looking, including himself - but just that. Pretty. Nothing behind it, no real emotion.
Roman straightened his sash. He could work with pretty, right?
“Don’t touch me!” shouted Virgil’s muffled voice, and Roman opened his door.
The first person he saw was Remus, lounging on the sofa cross-legged, his smile just as deranged as usual but his eyes pinched, like he was making a real effort to keep up his... peppy attitude. God, Roman could relate.
Then Patton and Logan, who both brightened upon seeing him, if you could call relief brightening. They were standing next to each other, but several feet apart - almost like they were ready to move, hold someone back. Patton wore a peacemaking smile that was obviously slipping off his face, his glasses sliding down his nose. Logan looked significantly more composed, his hands clasped behind his perfectly straight back (the only straight thing about him, Roman thought automatically) instead of hovering, like Patton’s. Like Remus, his mouth was set in a line normal for him, but his eyes were lidded slightly, not quite glaring but certainly not approving.
And then, of course, like the centerpiece in an odd stage, Virgil and De- Janus. Janus’ stance was defensive, pulled back with his hands raised by his sides. Virgil’s stance was none of that - he’d leant forward, hands thrown out beside him, gesturing wildly. Janus’ face was unreadable, eyes conveying some sort of sorrow, possibly, but mouth set in a classic smirk as he met Virgil’s eyes.
Virgil looked absolutely furious.
Roman’d seen him angry, sure, plenty of times. A lot of the time directed at him. But he’d never seen Virgil truly upset. Like end-of-the-world, life is over, “I’m going to stab you to death with a kitchen knife” upset.
Roman stepped into the living room. Patton threw him a brief smile - a real one, not a “please don’t kill each other on the carpet” smile. Logan gave him a nod, and raised one eyebrow in a silent question, which Roman answered with a smile. His fake smile, but a smile nonetheless, and Logan didn’t seem to mind.
Virgil barely seemed to register that he was even there, continuing whatever point he had started. Roman heard a lot of words, angrily shouted, but none of them that he hadn’t already thought about.
Janus glanced over at him quickly, almost unwilling to look away from Virgil, and gave him a tiny smile, or just the ghost of one. Roman felt a tiny shred of guilt fall away from his chest.
Sudden movement caught his eye, and then Remus was next to him. His smile was gone, and instead of looking insane and slightly worried, he just looked like... well, like Roman.
Back in the beginning, right after the Split, both Roman and Remus were told, separately, that they tended to mirror each other. Completely subconsciously, one would copy the tiny mannerisms of the other. According to Logan, it was painfully obvious, especially when they stood next to each other.
Some far-off part of Roman’s brain wondered if he was doing that now.
“They’re fighting,” Remus said.
“To answer your question, I do have eyes,” Roman responded instantly, forcing down a panicked wave of nostalgia and memories of Thomas’ carpet on his face.
Remus didn’t laugh, but the side of his mouth did quirk up a little bit, and Roman felt like they were kids again, watching Logan and De- Janus debate.
“Oh please, like you’d know anything about being honest with feelings-”
There went that happy thought.
“How long have they been like this?” Roman asked, in part to distract himself from how dry his mouth was all of a sudden.
Remus screwed up his face. “Ugh, time. Long enough for a horse to bleed out.”
Roman blinked at him.
“Like two or three hours. You know I suck at time. We both do.”
Roman had to suppress his flinch at that one, turning his gaze back to the two in the center of the room. “Two or three hours? And they’re still going like this?”
“Oh, you should’ve seen Virgil when he first found out. Entertaining stuff,” Remus said, but it lacked his usual screech of laughter.
“Has anyone tried to interrupt?”
“Almost got decked.”
Roman sighed. “If I asked to talk to... Janus. Alone. Would Virgil kill me?”
“No. You’re the only one he hasn’t actively screamed at.”
“I was in my room this entire time, of course he hasn’t-”
“Or about,” Remus continued. Roman avoided his eyes, suddenly finding the ground very interesting. “In a negative way.”
Remus nudged his shoulder, and headed back for the sofa. Roman didn’t have time to shove away the feelings box that time - but he did have the foresight to hide his reaction to it.
“Janus!” he called, before he could talk himself out of it. Both Virgil and Janus paused, and suddenly Roman had four pairs of eyes on him - Remus was fiddling with some kind of string contraption that Roman really hoped wasn’t going in his room later. “Can I - can I talk to you? Alone?”
Janus looked back at Virgil and then to Roman again, his expression a closed door, and took a step towards him. Roman gestured to his room, and Janus made a beeline for it without hesitation. By the time Roman was closing the door, Patton had already clasped his hands on Virgil’s shoulders.
The last thing Roman saw before he shut the door was Virgil’s face, utterly heartbroken.
“If he asks you to pick a side, don’t,” Janus said the moment the handle clicked.
“Huh?” Roman responded, very eloquently. “Oh! Uh, sure?”
“It’s- he’s already mad at Patton. And that’s my fault.”
“It’s really not,” Roman responded instantly. Janus gave him an expectant look. “I assume he’s mad at Patton for... being your friend? Or something. And that’s fine, I don’t know what happened, but it’s not your fault, right? ‘Cause Patton made that choice and he seems to be sticking with it, and that’s his choice, not yours. So- yeah.”
Janus looked absolutely baffled, and Roman realized all in a rush that nothing he had just said made any sense, but Janus interrupted him before he could say anything.
“I- thank you, Roman. I appreciate it,” he said softly, and wow, did he actually understand any of that?
“No problem,” Roman said, rushing on. “I wanted to apologise. I didn’t - I shouldn’t have made fun of your name. It was mean, and I was lashing out, and I’m really sorry, and it’s actually a really cool name and I didn’t know you were into mythology-”
“Roman.”
Roman shut his mouth so fast there was an audible click.
Janus looked slightly pained, glancing around the room awkwardly. His tongue was moving inside his mouth, but he wasn’t saying anything, like he was thinking of the right words. Roman toyed with his fingers nervously, waiting.
“Okay,” Janus said, and Roman’s head shot up. “I accept your apology, even if I think it was unnecessary.”
“I-” Roman began, but Janus held up a hand to cut him off.
“I apologise too. Comparing you to Remus was low blow, and it didn’t make much sense anyway. Neither of you are evil. You’re nuanced.”
“We weren’t,” Roman mumbled.
“You are,” Janus repeated, frowning. “Years of personal growth have that effect.”
Roman smiled faintly. “Thank you.”
“Just common courtesy-”
“Not for that. But that too, I guess.”
Janus met his eyes, and they shared some kind of look, before he looked at the door again, sighing.
“I guess I should get back to that.”
“I can ask him to calm down.”
“It won’t work, and he has a right to be upset,” Janus said, pointedly avoiding Roman’s silent question. “You should sit with Remus. Make it obvious you don’t want to be involved, and we part as neutral.”
Roman frowned a little bit - neutral certainly didn’t sound good - but nodded anyway.
Janus opened the door.
(stop reading here to avoid the AngstTM cliffhanger and come up with your own ending :7)
(i can’t put another break so we’re using parentheses babey!!)
They stepped into the living room, eyeing Patton, Logan, and Remus, who all wore different shades of “distinctly guilty”.
The room was quiet.
Virgil was nowhere in sight.

Game Night
Pairing:  Ragxiety
Warnings: Verbal fight (it can come off as unsymp, but they had a lot of emotions at the time), cursing, breakdowns, sexual jokes (just nicknames and implications), making out, spoilers for the newest episode, I think that’s it but if you see more let me know!
Word count: 1.9k
Summary: Virgil and Rage have some unresolved tension between them.
A/N: Alright, so I’ve had this done for awhile now, and if I don’t post it now, I never will. (Not proofread.) Also, Rage’s name is Richard, but that only pops up a few times. And I know that I can’t write romance/kiss scenes, so don’t scream at me about it.
Rage walked downstairs into the commons room. Janus and Virgil sat at opposite ends of the couch, each holding a popcorn bowl to themselves. Even though Virgil was always hanging out the light sides, there’s no way that he would pass up a game of Mario Kart with some past friends. One of the floorboards creaked under Rage’s steps, causing Virgil’s attention to shift.
His expression dropped slightly as his world figuratively crashed in. His shoulders tensed, not daring to look away from Rage. Janus lifted an eyebrow at Rage, but nonetheless, he wanted to help Virgil get comfortable.
“Oh, uh Vee, Rage wasn’t wondering if he could join us this time.” Virgil played with the inner part of his jacket sleeves.
Rage felt his world quietly crashing down at the sight of that. It was as if Virgil was afraid of being around him. No- he was afraid of him.
Rage took in a sharp breath at the thought of that and quickly said, “I’ll understand if you want me to leave.” The words came out so rapidly that Virgil would’ve misheard him if he wasn’t paying so much attention.
“...you… you can stay.”
It took all Rage had to not go sprinting down the stairs and thank Virgil. So instead, he slowly stepped over to the couch where everyone was at. Was Rage hesitant because he didn’t want to scare off Virgil, or was he feeling just anxious himself? Nobody knew the answer to that question.
Remus barreled into the living room, wearing a dark green onesie, “Upset pants decided to join us? Oh fun!” Nobody dared to respond to Remus’ comment. Unironically, anxiety radiated off of Virgil at this point. “Y-yeah, he’s here too.”
“Oh jeez, what’s with all the sexual tension, Hot Mess?”
Virgil let out a small laugh, “That’s the best you could come up with?”
Remus’ eyebrows furrowed together in a fake anger, “Oh Virgey, I doubt you could beat that!”
The world seemed to drift off from Rage, letting the three have their moment.
The sides around him, each showing their enjoyment from the situation differently. Remus, with the loud laughs that he shared with his brother. Janus, with a slight smirk, always in the middle of an eye roll. Then Virgil- Virgil was smiling with a slight blush on his face, easily complimenting the way his hair fell onto his face. Rage wished that he would see Virgil more often.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Remus waved a hand in front of Rage’s face. “Hey, steamy trunks, you with us?” Rage’s face burned from embarrassment.
“Y-yeah, I’m here.” He internally cursed himself for the stutter, but Remus shrugged it off and walked around the couch. Virgil and Janus were both skeptical, but only the latter shrugged it off.
“So, Rage. How have you been recently?” Virgil’s neck burned with familiar anxiety, but he tried his best to ignore it.
“I’ve been alright, how’re the light sides?” As soon as it left his mouth Rage regretted every word. “I- I mean how have you been?”
Virgil wasn’t quite expecting that either. Maybe he expected an argument to start, but Rage apologizing? He didn’t quite expect that from their last interaction.
---
“You can’t just fucking leave! You’ve only known those lights for 6 months. That isn’t enough time to pick favorites!” Rage roared, threatening to shake the walls with his voice.
“I- I’ll pro-promise to be back s-soon.” Virgil knew Rage would respond the worst out of everyone.
“I’m not Deceit, but I know you’re lying. I’ve seen how much you care about them.” The tremor in Rage’s voice grew, but with something deeper than anger or jealousy.
“Look if you would just look out for me for once instead of yourself, then maybe I wouldn’t want to leave in the first place!” Virgil’s voice went low at those final words.
Tears threatened to spill over Rage’s cheeks, but he refused to let them fall. Rage thought he was being secretive about it, but Virgil found out.
“Oh-oh god Rich- I d-didn’t mean to-” Virgil’s words came out fast, attempting to undo the damage to Rage’s heart. He stepped closer to pull the side in an embrace when Rage shoved him away.
“Leave.” Virgil looked at him with wide eyes.
“R, pl-please lis-”
“I’m done fucking listening. If you love the lights so much, go to them.” Rage spit out at Virgil. The salt in Rage’s voice burned Virgil’s figurative wounds. Virgil’s shoulders tensed again as he crossed his arms.
“Fine,” was the last thing he said before he sunk out. Rage’s heart had shattered upon the sight. He let go of his tears and let them spill. He pushed Virgil away, he could’ve saved something. He could’ve ended on a better note. Rage’s legs shook as he fell down into Virgil’s spot.
“God, what’s fucking wrong with me,” he found himself whispering to the cold air. He should’ve kept it under control. There’s so many things he should’ve done, but he didn’t move. He sat there, wishing for Virgil. Wishing for him to come back, for something else to be said.
He wished he wasn’t so fucking pathetic.
---
“We’re- well, I’m good, and they are too,” Virgil said, avoiding Rage’s eyes at all costs.
“...Well, now that the family reunion is done, let’s play!” Remus yelled, possibly too loud as Virgil slightly covered his ears. Rage looked at the screen, already lit up with Mario Kart loaded. Janus must’ve set that up before he came down.
Remus grabbed a fourth controller from the bin next to the tv and plugged it in. After it was connected, he passed them out to everyone. When he gave one to Rage, he could’ve sworn that Remus had winked at him. As a blush crept onto his face, Janus selected the start button.
“This time you’re not going to beat me,” Janus proudly claimed, giving a determined look to Virgil.
“Oh, how cute! You think you’re a threat to me,” Virgil responded, slightly sticking his tongue out at Janus.
“It isss on!” Janus hissed out at Virgil.
---
After they all played a few rounds, there was an unspoken chaotic energy vibrating in waves off of Remus. Unexpectedly, he grabbed Janus’ controller and ran to the kitchen, the cord trailing behind him. “Remus!” Janus called out as he hastily got off of the couch.
“Give that back!”
After Remus ran out of the room with Janus trailing behind him, Virgil and Rage were left alone.
“God Virgil- I’m sorry”
“Dude, don’t worry I’ve always been horrible at this game”
“No- I’m talking about…” Rage sighed out in annoyance. No matter how many times he imagined apologizing, he could never find the words that fit perfectly into what he was feeling.
“...oh,” was all that Rage heard from the anxious side. A few moments passed between the two, both finding the silence suffocating.
“I’mfuckingsorry!” Rage blurted out, closing his eyes tight, afraid of the reaction from Virgil.
“What?” Virgil asked, still tense at Rage’s outburst.
“I’m- When you said you were going to leave- I was scared, Virgil. So fucking scared. You- you were the only one who understood me. You were the only one I could actually trust and then- And then you fucking told me you didn’t want what we had anymore. That you didn’t want any part of me in your life anymore.” Rage’s eyes were filled with water, the tremors in his body offering no support.
“R, you don’t have to apologize,” Virgil quietly said, not surprised if Rage didn’t even hear him.
“No, Virgil. You don’t understand all the ways I went wrong. I pushed you away. I told you to go. I- I deserved all of it-” Rage’s voice broke at that, his whole body shaking as he tried desperately to think of the right things to say.
He pulled his knees up to his chest, letting his arms fall around, wrapping himself in a familiar embrace. However, what Rage didn’t expect was another pair of arms around him. He looked up trying to blink away the tears to help him see, and he saw purple and black arms holding him.
“N-n-no, I-I don’t d-de-deserv-” His voice broke off into another sob as he let go of himself and clung onto Virgil. Virgil accepted the embrace as he rubbed circles into Rage’s back and put his hand into Rage’s hair.
“Rich, y-you didn’t do anything wrong. I- I was scared too. I am sort of anxiety.” Virgil let out an empty chuckle, hoping it would help the side in his arms.
“And I honest to god was a bit of an ass when I left. I should’ve told you differently,” Virgil’s voice trailed off into a whisper that Rage could barely hear.
“D-don’t you dare tell me about should’ves” Rage commented, a watery laugh leaving him in the process. Virgil let out a half-smile that he knew Rage couldn’t see.
“Okay okay, but seriously, I was acting like a huge jerk to you.”
“C-c’mon we both were assholes.”
“Careful, Ree might hear you,” Virgil said as he played with Rage’s hair. Rage groaned and played the back of Virgil’s hoodie. Moments passed between the two, not daring to say anything to ruin what this fragile moment they shared.
“Vee, are you- are we okay?” Rage hesitantly asked, nuzzling into Virgil’s chest.
“Well, it would depend on what we are” Rage hummed in agreement. Things have always been strange between the two. Their fake fights were borderline flirting, and the emotional moments between the two didn’t answer any questions either side had.
“Well, it would be nice for something more” Rage mumbled, dancing around the topic in hopes Virgil would understand for him.
“Well, it would also be nice if you properly asked me” Virgil half-joked, pulling away from the side to look him in the eye. Rage’s tinted glasses were slightly askew, complimenting his messy hair and wrinkled shirt.
“God, you’ve always been difficult, haven't you” Rage teased, softly punching Virgil in the arm.
“Oh- don’t even speak about being difficult” Virgil responded, as he playfully pushed Rage to the floor.
However what Rage didn’t know is that he was still holding onto Virgil’s shirt, so he tumbled to the ground too. Virgil hovered over Rage, a deep blush slowly coming onto both of the sides. Virgil subconsciously lowered his face to be closer to Rage’s.
“May I?” The question came out as almost a whisper as Virgil’s eyes drifted to Rage’s lips and back up to his eyes. Rage couldn’t wait as he closed the gap between the two. The kiss was soft and tender, neither wanting the kiss to go far, but still wanting it to last. Rage let go of Virgil’s shirt and put it into his hair. Rage’s eyes flickered shut, moving the hair around in his hand, wishing he told Virgil he wanted this sooner. Virgil used the hand that wasn’t holding him up to cup Rage’s face, which Rage happily leaned into as he pulled away.
“Well, I’m back- woah! You two sure are getting it on aren’t ya!” Remus’ voice interrupted the scene, making Virgil clumsily scramble away from Rage. Rage grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at Remus.
Janus entered after Remus, holding the controller in his hand, taking note of the situation. “Vee, Rage, are you guys not okay?”
“We-” Rage looked over at Virgil, who slightly nodded, “-we’re okay”
“Yeah, we’re okay.”

give me janus taking care of Virgil and Remus when they were kids despite him only being a child himself
give me janus struggling to put food on the table because the dark side didn't have as many resources and him having to steal from the light side
give me janus helping Virgil through anxiety attacks and helping remus when he drowns in his own thoughts
give me janus being a struggling parental figure because no one else was going to do it
and give me janus being absolutely crushed when Virgil decided his best wasn't good enough.

Chapter Three: Brothers Prt.2
Warnings: Unsymp!Roman, strong language, arguing, threatens of violence, blood mentioned, intrusive thoughts mentioned, mild gore, THIS IS NOT UNSYMP!REMUS- so- please don’t spam my inbox asking to tag unsymp!Remus because it’s /not/-
-----------------
“What the hell do you want?” Roman hisses, his hand trembling as he glares hatefully at his brother. Remus raises his hands up and offers him a small smile.
“Calm down, Ro-Bro. I’m just here to check on you, help you calm down.”
Roman purses his lips as he and Remus have a silent stare off, Roman sighs and lowers his sword when Remus’ smile only broadens. The princely side tosses his sword to the side, he forces a smile as he steps aside allowing his brother entrance.
“Well, why don’t you come in, Lord of the flies? Seems like you’ll be my only visitor since Morality sent me where the bad sides go.”
Remus rolls his eyes and steps into his brother’s room, wincing slightly when Roman slams the door behind them. Remus looks around, Roman’s once clean room was a mess. All the mirrors in his room were broken, along with all the glass bottles that held the elegant perfume and colognes that Roman would wear. Shredded ideas and stories were mixed with the glass, Remus glances over to his brother when Roman begins to pace the room, the broken glass crunching on his boots.
“I know, I’m probably the last person you want to see, right now, Roman, and I know we never really got along, but I want you to know that I care about you and I’m worried.”
Roman stops his pacing, he looks at Remus and snorts in amusement, “You’re worried? You hit me with your morning star the last time we saw each other.”
Remus sighs and takes a seat on his brother’s bed, he crosses his right leg of his left, resting his elbow on top while holding his hand up with his fist.
“And you’ve stabbed me with your sword, we don’t exactly play gentle Ro-Ro. But yes, I’m worried because the so-called father figure did what he does best, and that was ruin everything he touches.”
Remus doesn’t so much as blink when Roman points his sword again, his brother’s eyes shining a bright and burning red as he glares at Remus.
“D-Don’t- You can’t- Y-You can’t blame Patton! Not… He’s just sick right now, i-its your slimy friend that’s ruining everything.”
Remus breathes deeply before jerking the sword away from Roman, ignoring how the blade slices his palm open.
“Listen to me, Roman. Jay isn’t to blame, he’s not the one that taught you ever since we… ever since we were split, that life was black and white. Janus isn’t the one that leads you astray, he’s not the one that builds you up to be the hero. Patton did. He separated us when Thomas learned that there are ‘good’ and ‘bad’ types of creativity, he did it, but he was wrong.”
Remus watches as tears stream down his brother’s face, Roman lowers his head and chokes back a sob.
“W-Well, Janus i-isn’t innocent either. He m-manipulated me, multiple times. F-Fed me compliments knowing of my insecurities, y-you know I thought he was my friend! B-But then Virgil and P-Patton kept saying he was bad, a-and said it was...w-was wrong to agree with him. T-Then Patton does!! A-And after what!? Him saying s-shit that I’ve been saying for the longest time!? I-It’s… I-its not fair!”
Remus winces when his brother screams, he opens his mouth to say something only to be cut off by Roman breathing a wild chuckle.
“T-That’s not even all! Ya k-know a part of me, believed that Janus a-actually meant all of the praises he gave me while in the courtroom. I-I thought for once in my life someone meant the kind words they said! B-But you know what he says when I tell Patton to not believe what he says? ‘That would be a funny wholesome prank, but no I mean it this time.’ H-He meant it that time Ree!! S-So all the things he told me… was nothing but a f-funny...wholesome...prank…”
Roman takes a shuddering breath as he drags his hands through his messy hair, he grips his hair tight lightly pulling at it.
“A-A wholesome prank!! S-So I made fun of his name! It… It was wrong, I know it was wrong, b-but he… h-he took it further, he played on my insecurities, I played on his trust he played on my insecurities, but… They… They didn’t scold him. They didn’t s-scold him for… f-for calling me you. They took his side… I-I’m supposed to be Thomas’ hero… but they took his side…”
Remus watches as his brother tries to keep himself calm, he stands up from the bed and slowly makes his way over to Roman. He gently places his hands on Roman’s shoulders, forcing the princely side to look up.
“Roman… You are his hero… I’ll admit what Jay said was going too far… but what you said wasn’t nice either. He wants to apologize… and I know you do too, so… let’s go back to the mind palace and we’ll all work this out okay?”
Roman sniffles and stares at his brother, “..Patton s-sent me here… Instead of just locking the door h-he sent me here… There’s nothing to work out…”
Remus hesitates for a moment before sighing, “There is… Come on Ro… You know I don’t lie…”
Roman gives his brother a small smile before placing his thumb on Remus’ forehead. The duke gasps and drops to his knees, images of Janus covered in blood and poked full of stab wounds flood through his mind, the image changes to Patton having his throat slit, the images flash, back and forth until Roman waves his hand causing the images to disappear as quickly as they came. Remus looks up at his brother with wide eyes.
“Maybe I am the evil twin… Intrusive thoughts are a bitch, right, Ree?”
Remus opens his mouth to argue that he can help, only to have Roman hold a finger to his mouth.
“I’m not going back, not until I rid Thomas of the true evil. You can join me or you can turn your back on me like they did, your choice little brother.”
Remus stares at up at Roman, his jaw clenched almost painfully. ‘I need to help him… but I can’t do that if he thinks I’m on their side.’
Remus breathes deeply through his nose and allows and easy-going smirk to form on his face.
“Brothers stick together, you know that Ro-Ro.”

A/N: Again this is not Remus being unsympathetic- he’s not going to be unsympathetic- he is just trying to help his brother-

Warnings: Unsymp!Roman, strong language, arguing, mentions of violence, intrusive thoughts mentioned, THIS IS NOT UNSYMP!REMUS- so- please don’t spam my inbox asking to tag unsymp!Remus because it’s /not/-
--------------
"What do you mean, 'Roman is intrusive thoughts' with you?" Janus asks, Remus sighs and throws his head back in dramatic fashion.    "It means, Jan, that Roman is intrusive thoughts with me. Honestly it was bound to happen, you guys treat him like shit."     Remus watches as the light sides immediately deny his claim, meanwhile Janus stands there, his head lowered not wanting to look the Duke in the eyes.     "Look, don't try to deny it alright? It was bound to happen sooner or later, it happened, now we need to focus on fixing my brother."    "Well, how do you expect us to do that when Princey is trying to kill us instead of just talking?" Virgil snaps, his eyeshadow darkening slightly.      "I'm on the inside, it'll be easy, but we all have to work together, which means daddy frog legs over there needs to stop being a scared piss baby and you panic at the everywhere need to stop treating Jan and me like a major puss filled thorn in your side."       Remus sighs as he drags his hand through his hair, honestly when did he become the hero and voice of reason? This was more up Roman's alley than his.       "What I do not understand is how you were able to get close to Roman. To my understanding the two of you don't get along," Logan says his eyebrow raised in a silent question.        "Well, at first he had his sword to my neck, but then we started talking. I had to convince him that I was on his side so I could stay with him. If it wasn't for him falling asleep I wouldn't be here now."
Really, Remus should be heading back to his brother, if Roman wakes up to him gone there was no telling how he'd react.    'I believe I would have react like this dear brother...'    Remus tenses, his green eyes growing wide.   "Remus? Are you okay?" Janus asks.     Remus goes to reply only to be cut off by a pained scream. He felt as if he was being torn apart, Remus falls to his knees, wrapping his arms around his waist. Images of him and Roman being split apart flash through his head, the phantom pains of the past shooting through him like electricity from a ten thousand volt taser.    Remus heard multiple shouts of his name around him, but it didn't stop the thoughts and images from racing.    'You lied to me!'    "I-I didn't!! P-Please stop!!" Remus cries.    'Stop? Why should I? You're just like them, a damn liar!'     The others flinch when a guttural scream rips through Remus.     "R-Ro please! Just s-stop, I have an idea!"    Remus gasps in relief when the pain and images stop, he pants softly as the last bit of the pain fades away.   'I'm listening.'   "L-Lets fuse... w-we'll fuse that's how you'll know I'm not lying."    Remus looks up at the others and winks, the images of the split gave him an idea, a way to subdue Roman without hurting him and without him hurting the others.   '...okay, I'll trust you. '    Remus relaxes, he looks Janus in the eye, sharing a nod with his friend before sinking out.    "What the hell just happened?" Virgil asks.    "Remus just gave us a chance to bring Roman back."     When Remus appears in Roman's room he's met with the point of his brothers sword.    "Did you really think, I'd fall for that? Let you corrupt me for the sake of them?"   Remus silently curses as he holds his hands up.     "Roman, they're trying to help you, they're trying to make amends, you have to let them."     Roman sneers and backs Remus to the wall, a smirk forming on the older twins face once he has Remus cornered.     "I don't need their help,I only need yours...I quite enjoyed your fusion idea... the mind palace needs its ruler back..."    Remus tenses.    "No, no I changed my mind. I don't want to fuse, no."     Roman tosses his sword aside and grabs Remus by the shoulders, holding the younger twin in a tight grasp. He grins as Remus struggles,a brightlight beginning to engulf the two of them.    "You act as if you have a choice."
